We are the non-governmental organization "Borderlands Foundation Ukraine," dedicated to helping Ukrainian veterans, particularly women, recover after the war.
Our mission is to create effective rehabilitation, psychological support, and social adaptation programs using the best global practices.
Restoring the physical and emotional well-being of veterans
Reintegrating military personnel into civilian life
Establishing a culture of psychological health in Ukraine
International collaboration to implement advanced rehabilitation approaches
The Foundation implements initiatives aimed at supporting veterans, organizes charitable events, promotes the stories of Ukrainian defenders, and secures international resources to enhance social assistance for military personnel and their families.
Borderlands Foundation Ukraine is establishing the Center for Traumatic Stress – the first systematic platform in Ukraine to help military personnel and their families overcome the effects of PTSD.
Providing comprehensive psychological assistance and rehabilitation services to veterans who have experienced traumatic events, facilitating their return to a fulfilling life.
Creating an advanced rehabilitation model that takes into account Ukrainian realities and the best global experiences. We aim to integrate scientific research, innovative therapeutic methods, and social support to achieve sustainable psychological recovery for veterans.
Scale of psychological trauma among veterans
As of 2024, 3.5-6 million veterans are registered
57% of veterans need psychological support due to PTSD and related disorders
14% increase in domestic violence in 2024 as a consequence of war-related trauma
Special needs of women in the military
69,000 women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with 48,000 active service women
Over 5,500 women on the front lines, with increased risk of psychological and physical trauma
53% of women veterans need specialized psychological assistance
Lack of programs adapted to the needs of military women (reproductive health, consequences of gender-based violence, returning to family and society)
Lack of knowledge and systematic support
Military personnel return to a society unprepared for their integration
Shortage of trained psychologists, medical staff, and social workers to support veterans
Absence of psychological literacy programs for the civilian population
The Center will serve as a platform for the development of psychotherapy and rehabilitation. In collaboration with the University of Texas and international research institutions, we are implementing advanced methods for treating PTSD.
We develop educational courses for:

The Center is led by Major General (Ret.) Vladyslav Klochkov – a military strategist, researcher, and expert in veterans' rehabilitation.
Vladyslav Klochkov on the Center's mission:
"Opening the Center is our duty to those who risked their lives for Ukraine. We don't just treat PTSD; we help veterans return to life. The next step should be to create a network of regional centers that support not only military personnel but also their families."
The psychological consequences of war can undermine the Ukrainian economy and society.
Without quality rehabilitation, there will be increased unemployment, social instability, family problems, and crime.
